Specification revision control for a custom headwear program for wholesale assortment buyers: the buyer decision
A specification revision changes the authority for future work. Describe precisely what changed and which orders or work stages are affected before distributing a replacement file.
Compare old and proposed specification fields
Use a change log for dimensions, artwork, materials, trims and packing instructions. Identify affected SKUs and note whether work has already started. Keep editorial corrections separate from changes that could alter the finished product or require another review.
Apply the review to your buying program
For a wholesaler, link instructions to customer account and assortment line. Identify whether an approval covers a shared stock item or a customer's exclusive variant. Keep exceptions visible when orders are pooled, so one account's accepted change does not amend another customer's specification.
Establish the effective revision for each work stage
Ask the responsible contacts to confirm whether the change applies to samples, bulk production, an upcoming reorder or only future requests. Withdraw superseded instructions explicitly. A revision number alone does not show that all recipients have adopted the same effective version.
Keep the decision evidence
Issue a change notice containing before-and-after fields, affected scope and acknowledgements. Preserve the superseded file so later inspection can use the correct historical baseline.
