Size grading review for a custom cap production release for wholesale assortment buyers: the buyer decision
Size grading describes how dimensions change between sizes. A larger circumference does not automatically mean that crown depth, visor dimensions or closure geometry should increase at the same rate.
Write the grade rule for each measurement point
Start with the base-size measurements and list the increment or fixed value for every other size. Identify points that do not grade. Check arithmetic across the full range and preserve the measurement diagram used to interpret each point.
Apply the review to your buying program
A wholesaler should preserve each size as its own assortment line during the review. Compare physical size samples with the customer ordering matrix. A complete order total can hide an omitted end size, so check size coverage before consolidating quantities for the supplier.
Verify the end sizes against the intended grade
Compare physical end-size samples with the proposed rule and review their proportions. If a point departs from the rule, record whether it is an intentional design exception or a correction request. Avoid creating a universal grade increment without product-specific agreement.
Keep the decision evidence
Deliver a grading table with base size, measurement points and approved exceptions. Link sample measurements to the rule so the approved size range can be reproduced.
