A packaging artwork proof review checks whether the proposed printed content matches the approved brief for a custom headwear order. The proof should carry a clear version and an identified packaging component. A digital approval confirms only the details reviewed and should not imply that an unexamined physical package has also been accepted.
Identify the packaging artwork version
Record the component, SKU scope, artwork file name and revision date. Keep the proof beside the approved text and brand references. Mark superseded files clearly so that the supplier does not combine wording from one version with graphics from another. Establish who can approve the artwork before collecting comments from several contributors.
Check wording against the brief
Compare names, item identifiers, care text and other required copy with the buyer-provided reference. Identify missing text and proposed edits explicitly. Any product, origin, composition or certification claim needs the relevant evidence and authorized wording. Do not add a claim merely because it appears on an unrelated package or on an earlier artwork example.
Review placement and readability
Inspect the relationship between artwork and the specified print area, folds, seams or attachment points. Ask the supplier to identify the proof scale and production constraints that affect the layout. Check any size requirements against the agreed reference. A screen preview alone cannot establish the final printed color, surface finish or readability on the physical material.
Resolve proof corrections together
Assign an identifier to each correction and state whether it concerns text, graphics, placement or the packaging specification. Request one revised proof showing the combined decisions. Avoid approving separate image fragments that leave the final layout uncertain. Where a physical sample is needed, record that requirement and keep its approval distinct from the digital artwork decision.
Release the approved packaging reference
Save the final proof, approval owner, date and any conditions with the order documents. Confirm the styles, quantities and packaging components covered by the decision. If copy, material or layout changes later, reopen the affected review and issue a new version. The approval record should preserve unresolved questions and should not extend beyond the evidence and specification actually checked.
