Demand forecast fields for a custom headwear reorder for wholesale assortment buyers: the buyer decision
A reorder forecast estimates future demand; it is not a purchase commitment. Separate actual demand, usable stock and inbound quantities before deciding what replenishment to request.
Calculate the net requirement by variant
For each SKU, record the demand period, opening stock, confirmed inbound units and committed allocations. Distinguish returns, unavailable stock and forecast assumptions. Review unusually high demand against its source rather than extrapolating a short campaign across every future period.
Apply the review to your buying program
For a wholesaler, compare sell-through and available stock at the individual assortment line. Slow-moving colors should remain visible when popular variants sell out. Separate customer reservations from unallocated inventory so replenishment supports the actual SKU mix rather than an attractive aggregate sales total.
Test the assumption that drives the reorder
Prepare alternative demand cases and identify which input changes the proposed quantity most. Ask the supplier to review the resulting variant quantities and timing. A forecast total does not confirm material availability, production capacity or the minimum quantity for each option.
Keep the decision evidence
Share a dated forecast showing actuals, assumptions and net requirement. State which quantities are planning information and which require a separate purchase authorization.
